Guru Girdhari Maharaj
Master of Kathak Dance

A master gifted with creative genius, he has mastered the multiple facets of theatrical art – dance, singing, poetry (sanskrit and urdu), and percussion – different domains that contribute to his pedagogy. He creates with an intuitive spontaneity specific choreographies adapted to the abilities and attitudes of his students. With unmitigated rigour, he takes into deep consideration the talents of his pupils with the goal of encouraging their individual growth. Its in the success of his students, thanks to his generosity, that he achieves a spiritual joy as master artist.

Guru Girdhari Maharaj is today the principal heir of traditional Kathak dance from the Gharana of Jaipur. Initiated by his father, Pandit Lakshminarayanji and by his uncle Pt. Kanhaiyalal, he perfected his art under the tutorage of masters sunch as Pt. Sambhu Maharaj and Pt. Brahmanan Goswami.
